Phantom Regiment wins High Percussion at DCI Finals

The Phantom Regiment, who finished 6th place overall, captured the Fred Sanford High Percussion Award with an average caption score of 19.6 as the 2010 DCI season wrapped up at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. The Cavaliers finished in 2nd place with a score of 97.75, while the Bluecoats earned the 3rd place spot with a score of 96.40. Both corps finished 2nd and 3rd in the percussion caption, proving that the best percussion sections in DCI choose Innovative Percussion over any other brand. Other world class corps included the Glassmen, Colts, Troopers, Crossmen, and Spirit.

Innovative Percussion would also like to congratulate the following Open Class corps, and thank them for choosing IP as their stick and mallet of choice: Raiders, Music City, Legends, Colt Cadets, Forte, and the Blue Saints. Congratulations to everyone on an outstanding 2010 season, and stay tuned for all of our media coverage from this year’s event!

UNT Marimba Workshop

The 2010 University of North Texas Marimba Workshop was held at the UNT College of Music on June 21-25, 2011. Guest faculty for the workshop included Prof. She-e Wu from Northwestern University, Dr. Brian Zator from Texas A & M University at Commerce, and Dr. Scott Herring from the University of South Carolina. Prof. Mark Ford, UNT's Coordinator of Percussion, hosted the event and also served on the workshop faculty. Thirty-four high school and college students from the United States and Canada attended the workshop. All of the students attended many sessions including marimba master classes, technique and sight reading classes, a Baroque performance clinic by Prof. Wu, and a composition session by Prof. Ford. Each of the students also received private lessons and performed in an ensemble. Additionally there was a faculty recital, two student recitals and an ensemble concert. The UNT Marimba Workshop was sponsored in part by Innovative Percussion.
